A Message from Chief Van Kruiningen

Welcome to Fair Lawn Rescue's website. Fair Lawn Rescue's mission statement is a volunteer organization created for the purpose of preserving life and property through the provision of emergency and non-emergency rescue service in the Borough of Fair Lawn.

The Rescue Squad is a division of the Fair Lawn Office of Emergency Management which is a municipal office of the Borough of Fair Lawn.

This website has been developed to educate you about the service that we provide articles of both past and present events, and providing informative information about the Rescue Squad. The Rescue Squad operates out of one building that is owned and maintained by the Rescue Squad Association. Each year our fund drive committee distributes two mailings seeking donations to maintain our building, complete projects, support our youth squad, and provide financial assistance to a graduating senior through our scholarship program. Our Borough officials also have to be recognized and thanked for their continued support. Our Borough Manager Thomas Metzler and Mayor and council provide the necessary equipment, personal protective equipment, and maintain our vehicles through the town's maintenance department. Lastly Ira Marks, the OEM Coordinator handles the budget items, purchase orders, coordinates meetings when needed with other departments and supports the decisions I make as well. Ira has continued the full support of the Rescue Squad since taking over OEM in 2006 and I thank him for that.

In conclusion I am fortunate to have forty active members and ten youth squad members today that are committed to providing rescue service to the residents, business owners, and visitors in Fair Lawn as well as within our mutual aid when called upon. In 2006 our vehicles left headquarters well over 700 times in both emergency and non-emergency reasons.
