A Message from Chief Van Kruiningen:

Welcome to the Fair Lawn Rescue Squad’s website. The squad’s mission statement says that we are “a volunteer organization created for the purpose of preserving life and property through the provision of emergency and non-emergency rescue service in the Borough of Fair Lawn.”

The Rescue Squad is a division of the Fair Lawn Office of Emergency Management (OEM), which is a municipal office of the Borough of Fair Lawn.

This website has been developed to educate you about the services that we provide, articles of both past and present events, and provide informative information about the Rescue Squad. The Rescue Squad operates out of one building that is owned and maintained by the Rescue Squad Association. Each year our fund drive committee distributes two mailings seeking donations. The donations are used to maintain our building, complete projects, support our youth squad, provide financial assistance to a graduating senior through our scholarship program, and to maintain the day to day operations of the rescue squad.

The success of the Rescue Squad has allowed our members to have another year filled with accomplishments, with forty-five active members who handled 604 calls for service in 2009 totaling 8,635 total hours of time. For the third consecutive year their has been no injuries during training or emergencies which has risen to over 25,000 hours in that period of time of which is a huge accomplishment that I am proud of.

In 2010 the Rescue Squad will be implementing new technology with on board computers on every vehicle, allowing the members to complete reports, access information for new car technology and hazardous materials research, GPS mapping to quickly locate incidents outside of Fair Lawn when called upon and so much more.

It has been a rewarding experience serving as Chief since 2006 and look forward to working closely with our supporting emergency organizations, our mayor and council, the members and officers of the Rescue Squad, and lastly our Emergency Management staff who is always their for the rescue squad and it’s needs.
